Andi has 30 years experience working in design and print in West and Central Scotland.
He has built up extensive connections and knowledge, related to design and print making
him the ideal person to project manage and advise on your needs.

I’ve written the text what do I need to do now?
If you’re able to get written text typed into a word document this can be saved on a CD or memory stick and given to Tooth design. If you use email then the word document can be attached to an email and sent to andi@toothdesign.co.uk Let us know if you would like us to type up your written text for you.
Do I need to give Tooth design any other information at this stage?
The text that is sent will be formatted into pages for you to read, as it would appear in your book. Let Tooth Design know what dimensions you are hoping the book will have so that the text can be fitted to the right page size. Consider if there are any dedication pages or index that you wish to have at the beginning or end of the book.
Will I get to review the layout of the text and the font?
Yes, Tooth Design will give you the opportunity to comment and review the appearance of your book at every stage. You will approve the draft copy before it goes to print.
I think I would like some pictures to go with the text?
If you have any photos or pictures that you would like to go with the text it is helpful if you can indicate this when you submit the text to Tooth design. Pictures and photos can be moved at a later date but it facilitates the production process, to know near the beginning, what you hope your book to look like. If you would like Tooth design to find you an illustrator for your book please ask.
I don’t know what I want the front and back of the book to look like – can you help?
Yes – the cover of the book is a separate process so if you need longer to think about this, that’s fine. We can advise you and help you with a design or work with any images that you have already. There are some basic requirements about what information needs to be on the cover which we can explain.
Will my book have an ISBN number?
Yes we will access this for you including the bar code which will contain the information for your book.
Will you be marketing my book?
Tooth design will produce your book for you. You will be able to sell it in shops if you wish to or advertise it through online websites. Any advertising or marketing of the book is your responsibility. Tooth design are happy to produce small quantities e.g 10+ books or larger quantities if required of several thousand.
When will I know what my book is going to cost?
Tooth design will seek to give you as accurate a price as possible early in the process. The main parameters that govern the price are the number of pages, the quantity of books required, whether it is soft or hard back and the complexity of printing relating to colour. Andi is happy to go through this with you at the beginning. He may need to give you a price range until it is clearer how many pages your finished book will contain.
If I am selling my books will Tooth design expect a percentage of the sale?
No. You pay for the production of your book and there are no other costs thereafter.
The books are owned by you.
Will Tooth design sort out the copy right for me?
Yes. This will be explained and arranged for you at the time of production.
Are there examples of books that I can look at to get ideas and see what my finished book might look like.
Yes. Tooth design have sample books that can be viewed that show the different finishes, sizes and design work of books previously produced.
How do I contact and start discussions about producing a book?
You can ring or email Andi to arrange an appointment. He often comes to visit people in their own home. If you prefer you can meet with Andi in his office at Muthill, Perthshire or an alternative location that suits you.
